Client Rights

Every Client has rights with resepct to their counseling as follows:

  • The right to ask questions about your therapy.  If you are to ever have questions about the direction you and your therapist are taking, we encourage you to ask questions.
  • The right to have your counselor’s approach and methods explained to you.
  • The right to decide not to receive services from New Hope Counseling Center. If you so desire we will be happy to provide you with the names and contact information of qualified professionals in the area.
  • The right to end therapy at any time without moral, legal, or financial obligations other than those already incurred.
  • The right to know the code of ethics followed by the therapists at the counseling center.
  • The right to specify and negotiate theraputic goals and to reevaluate them as deemed necessary by you or your therapist.
  • The right to be fully informed about the limits of confidentiality.
  • The right to be fully informed about the fees and methods of payment accepted.

Keeping Appointments

If you need to cancel a session, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance unless it is an emergency.  If you have an early morning apointment, please contact your therapist by mobile phone as soon as you are aware that you will be unable to attend.  Appointments cancelled less than 24 hours in advance are subject to charges associated with that appointment.  Sessions begin at the designated time and last for 50 minutes, so please be on time.  If you arrive more than 10 minutes late for a session, your therapist reserves the right to reschedule so that you receive maximum benefit of your time together.

Child Care

We are unable to provide child care while you are in therapy, please make arrangements before coming to the counseling center.

Confidentiality

We strive to maintain the highest ethical standards and operate in accordance with our governing bodies.  Your counselor may be required by Tennessee State Law to report information about your case to their supervisor.  Only relevant information is passed on and it is done so in a manner that maximizes your privacy and protects your anonymity.  If your counselor is required to report to a supervisor, he or she will discuss this with you and obtain your written permission to do so.
In accordance with the State Laws we are required to report or release information as follows:

  • If the client has revealed serious intentions to harm self or others.
  • If there is evidence or reasonable suspicion of negligence or abuse of minors,elders, or dependent adults.
  • If a court has mandated you to counseling and requires information.
  • If the client requests release of specific information and we have obtained written permission to do so.

We do not release information about family counseling or counseling of minor children unless there is written authorization from every party involved.  Children over the age of 16 may receive treatment of their own accord and we will not provide confidential information about their therapy without written consent.

Payment Policies

We accept and file most major insurance, please consult your individual policy for specific coverage. You will be responsible for your co-pay at time of service or full payment if you are not using insurance. At this time we are unable to accept Tenn Care. If you have questions about payment or insurance please do not hesitate to call, we would be happy to assist you if we can.
